Great Birthday Card

Inside Card
Card Front
I found Leena Thompson's  card on Pinterest and knew right away it would be  perfect for my granddaughter, who is celebrating her birthday this week.

I did not change the basic design of the card. I added lots of sequins, highlighted the balloons with wink of stella and glossy accents, added a colored bow to hold the balloons together and decorated the inside of the card with one of the balloon thinlits.  I used Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Watermelon Wonder and Whisper White cardstock.  Inks used were Pool Party and Watermelon Wonder.

Thank you Leena for helping make my granddaughter's birthday a little merrier.

My First Blog Hop

What should I do with all of this?

READY OR NOT BLOG HOP HERE I COME

I made a pretty scary decision this week to join my first blog hop.  The theme of the hop is Designer Series Paper and I had to choose a different paper than others on the hop.  Second scary decision, I choose Delightful Daisy before I knew what project I was going to make.

I quickly reprioritized my evening last night and got out the DSP and looked at all the different sheets to see if an idea would pop into my head.  NOT YET.  Next, I pulled out the matching cardstock (Calypso Coral and Tranquil Tide).  NOT YET.  “What else matches?”, I asked myself.  The clock downstairs is chiming 10 and I am getting desperate.  I need beauty sleep before work tomorrow!

I looked around and started pulling out embellishments (Crinkled Seam Binding, Rimmed Pearls and my new fav, Faceted Gems) Happy Birthday Thinlits and of course, the Daisy punch. Finally, the light bulb went off! Create a mini album that would showcase most of the designs in the Delightful Daisy series. Yes! I can do this blog hop. Check back on August 4th for pictures of my project and the inspiration that helped me make my decision.

Easy Watercolor Technique

Today I want to share a card I made recently using a very simple watercolor technique. Take any size stamp block, add ink, spritz water on the ink, turn inked block over on a piece of watercolor paper (3¾ by 5 in.) and let the inked block sit on the paper for a few minutes. Remove the block and set the paper aside to dry. For this card I used Island Indigo and Crushed Curry inks.

I heat embossed the sentiment using Versamark embossing ink and white embossing powder. I used Stampin'Up! All Things Thanks and Paint Play stamp sets.

The cardstock is Island Indigo (4 by 5 1/4 in.) and Whisper White (base card); designer series paper is Fancy Frost (5 ½ by 4 ¼). The folded base card size is 5 ½ by 4 ¼ in. also.

Easy Handmade Shelves

Easy Handmade Shelves for
Stampin'Up! Stamps

Check out the awesome shelving I now have for all my Stampin'UP! stamps.  Aren't they wonderful?  Simple, clean and very space efficient.  I finally reorganized my craft room to make space for these beauties.

I really love how convenient my stamps are now and wanted to share with all of you .  The shelves are the perfect size and each shelf holds 29 stamps sets.  I can fit all the retired and current sets I own.  I cannot take the credit for the design, construction or placement.  My wonderful husband Andy is the woodcraft expert and carpenter.  The design is very simple and (according to my husband) easy to make.  He made all of this with leftover supplies that were sitting in our garage.

Woo-hoo! to getting rid of clutter in the garage.  Thank you Hun, they are perfect!

My First Customer

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer heat.  I have been busy with family and not had a chance to blog for a couple of weeks.  I have to manage my time better so I can blog at least every other day.  It is very hard since I still work full time and it often requires more than 40 hours a week.  Today I have some very exciting news to share.  I have my first customer and my first sale.  Yippee!  I was not expecting a customer yet but was pleased when the notice arrived.  I quickly mailed out a thank you package to Janette and it should be delivered tomorrow.

My First Blog

Welcome to My First Blog

Hi! My name is Debi Galloway.  I am an independent Stampin'Up demonstrator who is testing out blogging for the first time.  I am trying to decide if this is something I am going to enjoy.  For the next 30 days, I will be blogging in a test environment to determine if blogging fits my style for sharing colorful creative cards, projects and other ideas with you.
To begin this new adventure, I asked my colleagues how they would describe me to someone.  Their responses included: colorful, high-spirited, boisterous, recovering professional with a passion for paper (refers to my impending retirement), cookie maker extraordinaire ( I will surely be blogging about this during the holiday season) , creative, honest, family oriented and very matter of fact. So, from all of these great adjectives I have to find a good theme for my blog. This is going to be interesting!
Wish me luck on my journey and follow along.  I am sure you will be entertained.
