Try Glitter Queens Card Sketch # 24

Happy Tuesday everyone.  I had a wonderful weekend and I hope you did too.  Friday night our youngest granddaughter Lily slept over (always a treat for Nonni and Poppy).  I made New Hope Mills animal shaped pancakes Saturday morning for her. This mix is  the same pancake mix my grandmother used when I was a child.  Best pancakes ever! It was always a huge competition among my siblings to see who could eat more of Grandma's pancakes. One of my brothers usually won.

The pancake molds can be found here.

Saturday evening had a great time with Heather and Jim.  So looking forward to our next get together.

Sunday's event was The King and I.  The play was awesome.  So many emotional scenes throughout, laughing one minute, crying the next.

Today I am sharing my interpretation of  Glitter Queens card sketch # 24.  Thank you Dawn for inspiring me. You will find the sketch HERE.

I tweaked the measurements a bit.  See Recipe below. I used a retired stamp set but I am sure you can find a similar sentiment in your stash.

Cue The Confetti

Good morning everyone! Hope your day is off to a great start. Yesterday was a spring-like day in Cincinnati @ 69 degrees. I took full advantage of the weather and started to mulch. The sunshine was awesome and it really lifted my spirits.

I also  enjoyed a lovely dinner with colleagues.  A big thank you to Barb and Lori Beth for spending time with me. Thanks again Barb for picking up the tab. My turn next time.

Yesterday was also my 5th granddaughter’s 10th birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELLA!

Today I am sharing the card I made for her. I love the Panda with outstretched arms and thought it would be great to imitate throwing confetti in the air.

When Bella opens this card confetti will spew out. She will get the card tonight since she was staying with her Dad’s when the card arrived yesterday. I can’t wait to see her reaction.

Recipe:

The card base (Whisper White)  is 4 ¼ x 11 scored at 5 ½ ; the Bermuda Bay mat is 4 x 5 ¼; the top mat (Whisper White) is 3 7/8 x 5 3/8
The confetti pieces are glued individually and created from various dies in my stash. The confetti flinger (on the inside of the card) is from Essentials by Ellen.

The Party Pandas stamp set is not available to purchase .  It was a Sale-A-Bration item.  However any animal or person with outstretched arms would be a great substitute for the panda.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed my post.

Create Card Gift Packs

Happy Tuesday everyone! This past weekend's Gourmet Club was another success.  Our club is four couples who come together about once a month to share a meal and enjoy each other's company.  One couple hosts ( it was my turn) and plans the main entree.  Others take care of appetizer, dessert, cocktail and soup or salad.  For the main entree, I chose to brine and butterfly  (never did this before) whole chicken fryers and roast at 500 degrees.  I was worried about the baking instructions but the chicken turned out very moist with crispy skin. This recipe is definitely worthy of a repeat performance.

We have a tradition of a small gift being placed at the table for the ladies (sometimes the men get one but not often).  I remembered I needed to take care of this late Friday evening.  I needed to come up with something quickly.

The supplies you see in the picture (left) were scattered on my workstation. As I started to clean up Friday night, I got an idea for the small gift I needed.

I created a gift pack of cards that needed to be put together for each of the ladies.  I used Picture Perfect Party  and True Gentleman Designer Series Paper, coordinating cardstock, ink, dimensionals, embellishments and a variety of stamps.  I used the card desgin from my Glitter Queens Blog Hop post which made the gift packs quick and easy to assemble.

Debbie, Marie and Terre had 4 cards each to ink  and assemble with a picture of the card on thier phones to guide them.  They picked their sentiments and stamped the circles right before they left Saturday night.  It was great material for a blog post.  Unfortunately,  I forgot to take a picture.  I will tag them when I post on Facebook and encourage sharing of their finished cards.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy the rest of the week. I hope your weather is better than Cincinnati's.  Old man winter still lingers!

Alternatives for March Paper Pumpkin

Happy Thursday to all!  How is your week going? I am getting ready to host Gourmet Club this weekend and still have not decided on the main course.  I need to figure this out soon! If you have a great recipe to share leave me a comment.

Today I am sharing two cards that I made with my friend Debbie.  We each have a kit and meet every fourth Friday to make cards from the current month's kit as I shared in late March .  Here is the intial post ICYMI.

The first card we made this month was very similar to a card design in the kit.  We always like to give the designs our personal touch.  Adding layers, embossing, turning the design around are just a few of the changes we like to contemplate.

We contemplated alot as we enjoyed our day together while  laughs and "opps" handicapped our progress. We had such a great time. We are making so many priceless memories to add to our storyline. What a great way to use Paper Pumpkin!

The second card incorporates a few items from our stash to enhance the beauty of the rose design paper.  Capturing the shine in the gold paper was challenging but its the best I could do without drowning out too much of the Fresh Fig color.

Here is the inside of the card.  We liked the card without a sentiment which gives us more flexiblity using the card.

Each card is 5½ x 4¼.
Center panels are 4¼ x 3
Center panels are popped with dimensionals.
BTW March's kit was loaded with dimensionals.

Winner, Donate Stash & Try Sketch #23

Good morning everybody!  The calendar says Spring is here however mother nature is still holding on to winter.  Nonetheless, I am in an organizing, spring cleaning state of mind.  I am trying really hard to get rid of the craft supplies I have hoarded over the years.

I found a great organization that will take my craft treasures. You can find them HERE .  My granddaughter's day care also takes donations, especially cardstock.  If you need to declutter, I am sure you can find several local organizations that will accept supplies that are in good shape.

Today's card design is from Dawn Griffith, Sketch # 23.  I had a little trouble with this design initially, but after playing for awhile I came up with a good solution for me.
